The weekly materials were increasingly informative and resourceful. While I learned and gained substantial knowledge, I found some concepts in this content surprising or interesting, shaping my understanding of different law areas. Firstly, I was surprised to acknowledge that the United States (U.S.) is the only country on the planet that sentences individuals (offenders) to life without availing them of parole for illegal activities perpetrated prior to being 18 years old (Rovner, 2017). The decision sounds unfair and illogical because kids are undoubtedly distinct from adults. For instance, children below 18 years cannot reason like adults aged 25. Therefore, the court system requires adjustment to consider
