American federalism involves the sharing of power between the federal and state governments of America. During the end of the civil world war, the federalism changed in the manner that power was directed towards the national government. Giving this kind of power to the federal government acted as a solution to the problem that was faced in regard to the Articles of Confederation. An example is a case whereby the article provided the authority of declaring war but could not allow for the provision of funding to the armies that were supposed to participate in the war. This has changed because the federal government is responsible for making financial decisions on behalf of the nation (Gerston, 2015).
