There are several parallels between the security attacks on a typical personal computer connected to the internet and a smart device utilizing a cellular network to browse the internet. Since both devices would be connected to the internet, it follows then that they would be exposed to cybersecurity vulnerabilities. Understanding the attacks against them is increasingly necessary to secure their respective systems. Just as the internet potentiates threats on home networks connected to it, it also poses the threat of attacks on the core network. In both devices, attacks can travel from the internet via the gateways and infiltrate the primary network (Almashhadani et al., 2022).
