The pandemic has taken a toll on almost every country in the world. It has claimed thousands of lives and caused a significant economic decline in almost every part of the world. Nonetheless, the course of this pandemic has shown the world the importance of an appropriate and equal response when it comes to combat the pandemic. Specifically, it showed that states must focus on providing aid to their citizens, not only sufficiently but also equally. In this article, the author would discuss some of the essential factors that the United States should consider during its COVID-19 pandemic response. Although he believes that the US is one of the leading nations when it comes to merits in combatting the disease, he also believes that analysis into the data of other successful 'Eastern countries' would provide insightful data about how to better its response in the future.
Data Analysis
One of the common misconceptions that must be cleared before going into the suggestions of improvements is the relative efficiency of the United States' efforts in reducing the COVID-19 cases in the country. One of the tests or metrics used to determine the severity of the pandemic is the 'positive rate' of the population, which could also refer to the rate of individuals tested for the virus, which tested positive CITATION Chr20 \l 1033 (Christensen, 2020). Accordingly, Figure 1 shows that compared to the Daily Average Positive Rate of South Korean (n=0.013), the United States has a significantly larger daily average positive rate (0.077).
