The two videos create an easily understandable presentation of facts and data pertaining to the persistence of slavery in our society. The documentary gives the essence of the challenges faced by the people in their quest for freedom, while the time-lapse gives a statistical context to the cruelty and brutality of stealing people from their homes and subjecting them to intense oppression.
In the seventeenth and 18th century, the rise of slavery were only starting, as slavery became more in demand during the early industrialization wherein agriculture played a big role in world economy. The early slavers collected slaves from Africa and delivered them to colonies for a strong labor force. American systems normalized the transport of indigenous people from Africa to colonies in Brazil, the Caribbean and areas of Europe and North America. During those times, the African people consisted of many tribes, kingdoms, and small communities. Due to this, those same people were at war with each other, which colonizers exploited, as they made contracts with powerful African authorities to capture war prisoners and sell them to Europeans.
As I watched the dots become more numerous and frequent, I could only think: How could humanity remain blind to such inhumanity? It was because the people were not perceived as human beings.
