Sports have been widely recognized during ancient times and were performed via gladiator battles, both in Ancient Greece and Rome. Men are trained to achieve their ultimate goal, which is victory. The men, called the gladiators, join the contest and show their incalculable strength and courage inside the arena. The celebrated reputation allowed the battles to be portrayed in various films in the present (Dunkle, 2013). This paper argues the preciseness of the gladiator battle in the television (TV) series, Spartacus: Blood and Sand (2010).
In the series, the editors endorse and capitalize on the strength of the gladiators. They are the one to arrange the battles and put on prizes on the gladiators’ heads. Oftentimes, the gladiators are rented or bought as slaves and trained to entertain the general public, especially the middle and the upperclassmen, to fight as a form of amusement.
