Nubian history has been overlooked for a long time. However, various authors have been attempting to unearth the group’s past. In his article, Kneller (1993) analyzes different Nubian matters, such as how women were viewed. He notes that females were considered critical to society due to the roles they played. For example, apart from serving as leaders, they acted as warrior queens who fought for Kushite Empire's interests. Therefore, were it not for authors like Kneller, Nubian history could still be unknown to many people.
Kneller used various sources in her research on Nubian women. This includes the work of Sir Budget and Willis, The History of Ethiopia: Nubia and Abyssinia.
