Since every member of a group or organization comes from a different country, culture, and environment than the others, they all have diverse perspectives on the world, which can lead to many original and innovative ideas. Similarly, every race and culture in the United States should have a representative in the legislature, as the country was founded by people of various racial and ethnic backgrounds, in order for their rights to be acknowledged and respected by the government.
According to Lemaitre and Opello (n.d.), the Congress consists of 535 members. There are 147 women in the Congress 10 Latinas, 26 Blacks, 10 Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders, Native Alaskans, Native Hawaiians, and Native Americans, 1 North African and Middle Eastern 95 Whites. In addition, 1 is Asian American/Pacific Islander, two are Black, and 1 is Latina. The four women are serving as non-voting delegates. There are presently 11 openly LGBT Democrats serving in the 117th Congress. The remaining are House representatives, while two are senators. The number of LGBT congresspeople serving concurrently at this moment is unprecedented in American history. This is just the confirmed people that are honest about their preferred gender.
According to the statistics, there are still more males than women in Congress, which indicates that men are in a position of advantage. Their racial differences are also random, but the majority of them are White Native Americans.
