September 11 Terrorist attack, commonly known as 9/11, was a series of four coordinated attacks by al-Qaeda against the United States on the morning of September 11, 2001 (Farag, 2017). The attack occurred when nineteen al-Qaeda members hijacked four commercial planes and crashed them into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon building, and a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. This event is significant because it was the deadliest terrorist attack in the history of the United States and the world. Around 3,000 people died in the attack, and thousands of others were injured, making it the worst terrorist attack the country has ever experienced (The 9/11 Commission).
