The 1993 and 2001 bombings had diverse impacts on America’s sense of security. Since then, law enforcement, the public, and policymakers have faced a daunting task to bridge the existing weakness within the robust system. This essay seeks to explore the extent to which the bombings affected America’s sense of security.
The aftermath of the bombings rocked U.S. security and exposed an imminent challenge committed to kill and destroy. The 1993 and 2001 bombings of the World Trade Center smoked out the rage and fury of the Sunni extremist whose malice had no limit. During interrogation, Ramzi Yousef confessed that he had hoped to kill 250,000 people. Shortly after the attack, the U.S. law enforcements splint into action, and within days, the FBI had collected components of a track reported stolen few days before the bombing. However, the unfortunate consequence of the successful investigative and prosecutorial process is that it presented a superb image that the U.S. was confident to handle terrorism.
