In chapter 13 Faber informs his readers that Britain's King George wanted to make a personal appeal to Hitler in hopes of avoiding a European war. Chamberlain vetoed the idea on the grounds that "Hitler might send an insulting reply, publish it, and thus add further to the ill feeling now rising to a head between the two countries." Does it seem that Chamberlain was genuinely concerned about King George and his image or was he more concerned about his own legacy with regard to the negotiations? Explain.

It’s true that Neville Chamberlain faced various uncertain situations in his life, but he performed far better than anyone else could do. In most minds, however, Chamberlain has remained as an arrogant and stupid guy who foolishly and vainly sought to quench Hitler’s insane thirst via some unjustified concessions at the expense of others. Since our childhood, our parents tell us that Chamberlain was a stupid guy with no sense of humor, but I believe the fact is opposite.
