Haiti and The US INDEPENDENCE DECLARATION
The content in both the Haiti Declaration and the US Independence Declaration of 1776 expressed discontent and oppression of its people, who were thirsting for freedom and liberty. In the US independence declaration, the message was directed to the Britain Colony and the world at large. The declaration addressed specific unjust such as racism, unfair treatment, and disassociation with the British colony. “We, therefore, the Representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world…” (2023)
Subsequently, the US was a British Colony that was initially occupied by British Immigrants who were looking for greener pastures overseas and freedom of religion. Upon arrival, the colonist established a sense of identity and society different from their rulers and different from independent people.
