Shamanism refers to an ancient religious belief system based building around the ability of individuals to transcend the natural realms and establish a connection with the spiritual world. It was a characteristic feature or concept in the Buddhist religion as witnessed in both the ancient Chinese, Korean, and most of the North Asian cultures in the early centuries. The ancient belief and practice of Buddhism where it was believed that the Buddhist monks had the power to heal through mystical abilities of their minds transcending beyond the existence and nonexistence realms provides an excellent example of shamanism.
