* Thesis Statement:
The outcomes of legislations from the various compromises, heritages of slavery, and the Civil War were all crucial in historical and social development in the United States
* Outcomes of each legislation:
The Three-Fifth Compromise has resulted to the expansion of the political power of the Southern states, in particular the electoral power of these states. With this, every American that has become slaves were granted 3/5ths of a person count in terms of taxes and for the purpose of representation. From being able to occupy 38% of the seats in the Congress, this Compromise has changed such occupancy to 45%. The Kansas-Nebraska Act led to the granting of sovereignty among the residents of west Missouri which is to render organization within Kansas and Nebraska. However, this has led to serious conflict among those who are for and against slave use within the North and South. This serious case has led to the event known as “Bleeding Kansas”.
Another legislation, which is known as the Dred Scott Decision, has also caused certain issues and has resulted to different outcomes, including the decision of the US Supreme Court to not provide freedom among slaves who were residing in a Union-recognized free state. This decision has caused infuriation among the abolitionists or those who wanted to free the slaves. However, another outcome of this was the Emancipation Proclamation on the year 1862 which has led to the freeing of the sl...
