The decision by America to join World War II had an immediate impact on the economy. According to the Library of Congress (n.d), millions of men joined the forces, with some working in industries where they made weapons to supplement the war. This move immediately dropped the unemployment rate from 25% to 10%. The demand for labor rose, pushing women to join industries that produced weapons and agricultural products used by the soldiers. The result was an internal migration to work in sectors that set up economic bases. These economic bases picked up after the war. Lewis (2007) posited that the manufacturing industries, agriculture, and improved wages to workers were the backbone of the economic uprising in the U.S.A. Here is a discussion of how the development of the economy after World War II, how the leaders of these industries succeeded, the origin and achievements of labor unions, and the role of religious organizations after the world war.
Towards the end of World War II, a section of political leaders precedented massive unemployment to soldiers who were coming back home. There were twists and turns as industries shifted to diversified production. Unlike the world war period when industries produced to supplement wars, a lot changed with industries focusing on the manufacture of domestic products for the growing population. Increasing demand for domestic economic recovery improved industries in the manufacturing sector to provide what citizens needed. By then, most citizens had enough savings from the proceeds of the World War, which they needed to spend. The demand for homes, for example, was a major contributor to the real estate development, that attracted every manufacturer to provide raw building materials. Later, buyers furnished most of them with items brought from industries focusing on domestic appliances.
