Informatics have contributed greatly towards the delivery of quality and safe healthcare. The contribution of informatics has mainly been in the alleviation of challenges that exist within the healthcare system. For instance, some patients often fail to report the truth about their medical history. But with informatics, physicians can access a patient’s medical history and make the right decisions (Joshi et al., 2019). Similarly, due to informatics, healthcare professionals can share patient data making it easy for a patient to transfer from one doctor to another.
The clinical provider order entry (CPOE) and clinical decision support systems (CDSS) are perfect examples of informatics.
