Treatment Program for Mentally Ill Employees
Many employees experience workplace-related stress, developing into depression and other mental disorders. In the 21st century, employee management might not detect these challenges unless they start experiencing high absenteeism rates, increased sick leaves, and low productivity among employees (Moll et al., 2018). The mentally ill employees experience suffering that hinders their normal functioning. The mental illnesses might be inherited, caused by environmental and psychological factors. Many people diagnosed with mental illnesses, especially employees, record low productivity levels, leading to a firm's poor performance (Moll et al., 2018). Such employees are subject to stigmatization and exclusion. Thus, they find it difficult to interact with others affecting their motivation. Such employees feel rejected and neglected, and they cannot manage to embrace teamwork because their co-workers display a negative attitude towards them. The paper herein explores a program that helps mentally ill employees improve their work performance and, in turn, enhance an organization's performance and overall success.
Purpose of the Program
The program aims to provide better healthcare services for mentally ill employees and offer them an opportunity to lead a quality lifestyle. Managers will be sensitized on the possible signs that depict a possible mental illness in employees (Dobson, Szeto & Knaak, 2019). Therefore, individual employees who manifest withdrawal and detachment signs will be the first to be recommended for this program. Equally, individuals that display sadness and mood swings within their workplaces will also be included in this target population because they are symptoms for people suffering from mental illnesses. The management can also abuse alcohol and drugs; thus, their productivity within the workplace is affected significantly.
Benefits of the Program
Employees who are mentally ill will profit from the program since they will contribute to the company's success. It will enable the company to understand mental illnesses better and, when feas...
