Methodology
Translational research applies the knowledge from basic biology to create new techniques, therapies, medical procedures that address the critical treatment of diseases.
Translational uses biological knowledge and basic research and translates it to an applicable concept in clinical settings. The research's implementation and dissemination are reliant on an evidence-based intervention that has been tested and then integrated into real life.
The traditional method involves the identification of an issue, the formulation of a hypothesis. This is followed by researching to see if acquired data and results back the hypothesis. Quantitative research aims at explaining a phenomenon by collecting data to test a hypothesis and focuses on the what, why, and how (Trautman, Idzik, Hammersla, & Rosseter, 2018). The results are linear and offer solutions and insight that researchers can share.

Traditional research is a bottom-up approach, while translation is a top-down approach. Both require technology and a controlled environment. Due to the nature of translational research, there is a need for heavy and advanced technology to process and analyze the data.
