Evidence-based practice (EBP) is one of the most prevalent trends in healthcare with the aim of providing effective, high-quality healthcare along with policies (Hall and Roussel, 2016). In lower Manhattan hospital, EBP has been highly adopted with efforts being made towards ensuring all practitioners in the hospital have the requisite EBP skills. The hospital has been effective in creating an EBP culture, and it has also made some significant investments in resources that increase EBP competencies among medical practitioners.
For example, at the Wellness and Prevention Center, each patient is given a preliminary work-up performed by a highly trained physician. The physician then draws up a formal medical history before performing a physical examination. Testing is done using evidence-based procedures which are both age and gender specific. Clinical results are then developed into medical profiles and attached are custom risk assessment and recommended treatment plans.
