Transition into Professional Nursing Role
Mentorship process has been of greater essence in the career planning. I have acquired the relevant clinical and didactic information on nursing role through exposure since the first year of my studies. Through support and guidance, I have been able to be a better clinical practitioner at the end of the fifth, which is required for the optimal transition to into the professional nursing role.
Currently, I'm seeking employment in Virginia State as a registered nurse after an approval by the Virginia Board that is responsible for the issuance of the RN license for the qualified nurse practitioners. The board requires that RN should have a high school education or a GED plus a degree or diploma from a professional nursing program. However, a prospective RN is required to attend a state approved the program. In addition, the Virginia also accepts other programs that are approved by other state boards. However, the state requires that RN programs include 500 hours of the direct client care that is supervised by a member of the faculty (Nursing Licensure, 2017).
Seeking an employment within the Woodbridge, VA 22192 would need certain criteria and requirements to be met. The application processes should be done online with a separate registration for the NCLEX-RN. The examination fee of $ 200 is paid upon registration. However, such examinations are not scheduled until ATT is acquired. For candidates who require retaking of examination, they have to fill out an application form for license by re-examination with a fee of $ 500 assessed by the Virginia Board (Nursing Licensure, 2017).
On a separate note, out of state RN who have current or past license within the USA are licensed only if a review shows that they meet the required qualifications. Nurses who are registered in Canada are also eligible for the endorsement if they did the nursing programs in English and passed the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination. Other international students are required to take the CGFNS examination before the NCLEX (Nursing Licensure, 2017).
Other requirements include graduates of the school of professional nursing approved by the relevant state accrediting agency, should have completed all the coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in an MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for the professional nursing criteria with unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in the state, territory or commonwealth nation. The RN should have a well-investigated security background with a well proven pre-employment background (Nursing Licensure, 2017).
