The United States is Divided into Two Colors – Black and White
The United States is divided into two colors – black and white. For centuries, White people have been dominating the country. These people are always favored and privileged. Unfortunately, even though they have all the power and privilege, they continue discriminating against Black people and pulling them down even further. Black people have no equal opportunities as compared to Whites. They are judged based on their skin color, verbally and physically abused, bullied, and, worst of all, they do not have access to healthcare services, particularly psychiatric care (Arredondo, 2019). When, in fact, they are the people who require psychiatric care due to the adverse effects of racism. Furthermore, this group is predisposed to death. Poverty, racism, health distrust, and inadequate healthcare services are all factors that contribute to their death rate (Bridges, 2019). It could be due to poverty, as they cannot afford healthcare services, or it could be due to policies, as there are only a few institutions that include psychiatric services in insurance. It could also be due to discrimination, as they are perceived to be less important in society, wherein their lives do not matter (Kalin, 2021; Mensah et al., 2021). Aside from not receiving psychiatric services, there is also a need for more mental health providers in the United States. There are few mental health professionals in many parts of the United States. There should be more mental health providers, particularly in areas populated by the marginalized and people of color. These healthcare professionals must be skillful and knowledgeable to give the most efficient services. Another reason could be their socioeconomic status. Most Black people cannot complete their education, and their language skills are limited. Because most mental health providers are White, language can be a barrier to receiving healthcare services (Arredondo, 2019). Therefor...
