The Concept of Whistleblowing is Almost Absent
Interview Summary
The interview was conducted by a registered nurse working in ABC hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU). There are several healthcare services for patients dealing with acute health issues, including medication administration, performing the implied therapeutic procedures, and setting up medical equipment. According to her, the most concerning issue faced is the inappropriate safety cultures that have led to substantial medical errors at the hospital. Health practitioners and nurses try to conceal mistakes from their colleagues. The concept of whistleblowing is almost absent, giving rise to an incidence of medical errors. Members from different departments need to improve the quality improvement initiatives in ICU to reduce medical errors and improve patients’ health.
