Introduction
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines nursing as an activity that entails collaborative and autonomous care of all people regardless of their age, community, culture, race, ethnicity, or health status across different settings. In particular, nursing entails the promotion of health, taking care of mentally and physically sick individuals, dying and disabled people, and the prevention of illnesses. Nurses are focused on taking proper care of individuals and communities. They promote healthy lifestyles since they are in the frontline of the healthcare system. These professionals act as the bridge between doctors and physicians. For instance, they spend more time with sick individuals and are the first ones to know whether a particular treatment is working well for a patient. If it is not, caregivers give their report to physicians suggesting a change of the treatment method. Nurses also educate the public, participate wholly as members of the healthcare team, perform researches, and supervise training personnel. The paper focuses on the significance of the Advanced Practice Registered Nursing (APRN) degree in the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) roles, principles, and the theory that guide my nursing philosophy, and critical elements that would help me to achieve my academic goal of becoming an exceptional FNP.
The Role of Nursing in the Healthcare Sector
APRNs hold significant responsibilities in the healthcare sector. They provide preventative and primary care to all individuals. These people communicate with patients so that they can collect relevant information that would enable them to improve the quality of healthcare services. In particular, good FNPs interact with their patients well and develop trusting relationships, which facilitate effective treatment. Nursing fosters patient safety since caregivers take care of individuals suffering from different illnesses. For instance, nurses are the ones who recognize inefficiencies and suggest a change in the treatment method to hasten the healing process. Family nursing facilitates the prevention of various diseases due to public awareness campaigns that target individuals’ safety. FNPs offer comprehensive and lifelong care in illness management, preventative care, and health education (Salmond & Echevarria, 2017). They help patients to manage chronic diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension. In addition, these caregivers provide prenatal and postnatal care. They provide acute care for diseases in different age groups and come up with proper treatment plans. FNPs perform diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and carry out health promotion campaigns for the elderly. These professionals provide wellness and healthcare to children and infants. Therefore, nursing promotes the quality of medical services in the healthcare sector by ensuring that sick individuals are treated well and that healthy people avoid behaviors that can expose them to diseases.
The Significance of Nursing in My Life
Nursing plays a significant role in my life. In particular, since I was a little child, I always wanted to be a nurse so that I can help people i...
