As a healthcare professional, it is my responsibility to provide patients with the utmost care and all the facilities needed for their quick recovery. In various ways, the burden of life and the fear of losing it are linked to one another. Sometimes, while working with patients, I find them afraid of things around. The previous month, I got a chance to interview one of my friends who had cancer. I still remember the way he was behaving and losing his interest in life. He has passed away, but I had recorded his answers to my questions, which are mentioned below.
Me: How do you feel my friend?
Mr. John: I do not feel good and honestly speaking, I do not trust the care plan you have decided for me.
Me: Do you think that you love interacting with people in the same way as you used to do when you were healthy?
Mr. John: No, I do not love speaking to people around me. In fact, most of my time is spent in the area where chemotherapy is done, and when I am brought back to the ward, I feel tired and begin thinking negatively.
Me: How did it begin?
Mr. John: Well, I was a drug addict; I used to smoke a lot, and I increased my dependence on alcohol with time. Maybe, this is the reason why I am now suffering from such a deadly disease.
