Essay Instructions:

I need to write a reflection paper that needs to be 4 paragrpahs. I have outlined in red what you need to incorporate in each paragraph. My teacher already sent out and outline of questions and I answered them you would just need to read it and write it out well. If you feel like you can add more information please do so.

DHYG 341 Dental Embryology Histology And Anatomy
Expectations of Reflection:
Signature Assignment: tooth drawing portfolios & infographics & presentations & tooth comparison worksheet
1.An introductory paragraph that describes the signature assignment:
o How does what you learned through completing these competencies connect to the learning outcomes in this course (you must write about how they connect to at least 2 of the 3 CLOs)? Describe the gains you have made over the term in achieving the CLOs.
In my Dental Embryology Histology And Anatomy class we had couple of assignments 1. Tooth drawing portfolios , 2. Infographics & presentation of 1 primary tooth (Tooth E) and 1 permanent tooth (Tooth #8) (Both are the maxillary right central incisor)( Tooth E is for kids teeth while tooth #8 is what is called for adult tooth, 3. We also did the tooth comparison worksheet. While doing these assignments I learned how to label each part of the tooth and understand what and why each tooth looks the way it does. I learned from the imbrication lines to the CEJ of a tooth to the developmental. Grooves and so on. These assignments correlate with CLO1 which is “Differentiate between the orofacial regions, orofacial embryology, oral histology, and dental anatomy terminology for effective communication”.  By drawing out each tooth and naming the regions I was able to understand more when we would talk about the different parts of the dental anatomy. Especially when we have tests and we have  to name which tooth it is  just from a picture. Also it connect with CLO 2 which is “Compare and contrast the anatomical features of the primary and permanent dentition.” By drawing each tooth I was able to identify what are the differences and what are the similarities in order to complete the tooth comparison worksheet.
2.A paragraph (or more) that includes your reflection on:
o What challenges did you face in completing this signature assignment? How did you address/troubleshoot them?-Terrible at tooth drawings
-For inforgraphic I had never made one before so it was a challenge for me to make sure that I put the right amount of info while it not being too much.- I also get very nervous while presenting. So when I had to present the infographics I felt like my voice was shaky a little.o What were your successes in completing this assignment?
- One success was I learned how to make a good infographic since I had to do it two times one for primary tooth and one for permanent tooth.
- I was able to label the correct parts to the tooth in my tooth drawing portfolios.
3.A paragraph (or more) that discusses your learning in this course throughout the term:
o Describe your learning process and what it felt like at different stages until you mastered certain skills associated with this signature assignment.
o What learning and skills have you obtained from this signature assignment and how will you apply this to your practice as a dental hygienist?
o Discuss the skills you are still developing related to this signature assignment and your plan to continue your learning to ensure you remain knowledgeable and competent.
- I can say this class was pretty difficult for me. From learning how to identify stages of tooth development to learning how to differentiate each tooth. It was a long process of studying very hard daily just to make sure I understood everything right after I got out of lecture.
In this class I learned about the tooth anatomy and this is going to help me when I start practice as a dental hygients because by knowing the correct parts of a tooth then I am able to properly probe, explore the tooth correctly.
By doing the signature assignments, they tought me every part of a tooth so I will know when describing to patient or to a teacher what I am talking about.
4.A final paragraph that discusses a connection between what you studied in this course with what you have learned in other courses:
o Make specific references to your work in this class and in the other courses. How did what you learned in the other courses enhance what you learned here and vice versa?
o Reflect on what you thought about the CLOs before you took this course (the beginning of the term) and what you think about them now that the course is over.
o Have any of your assumptions or understandings changed?
- This class I believe is really benefical for class DHYG 302. When I started to measure   the pocket depth for  the first time with a probe  I wasn’t really sure how far I can go, but by learning the tooths/ root anatomy I knew how far to go. This class also relates to DHYG 351 Preventive dentistry because in this class we learned about all of the tooth parts and anatomical names which helped me when learning about for example where of the majority of all carious lesions that occur in the mouth occur on the occlusal surfaces. Before this class I had no Idea where an occlusal surface was.CLO’S

Dental Embryology Histology and Anatomy is one of the basics in learning Dentistry because it primarily requires understanding and familiarizing with the different terms used. A couple of assignments were done which include: Tooth drawing portfolios, Infographics, and presentation of one primary tooth (Tooth E: children’s tooth) and one permanent tooth (Tooth #8: adult tooth) both of which are maxillary right central incisor tooth, and Tooth comparisons. These assignments are all connected to CLO1 and CLO2. The important learning outcome that I’ve gained from CLO1 and the assignments are the identification and importance of the different parts of the tooth and why each tooth looks the way it does. This is especially useful in the identification of a tooth based on pictures that will be used in tests. I've also learned about the imbrication lines, the cementoenamel junction of a tooth, and the presence of grooves. From learning Anatomy, I’ve also learned about the five developmental stages of a tooth CITATION Bra20 \l 1033 (Bradley, 2020). In CLO2, the drawing of each tooth helped in identifying the differences and similarities of the tooth.
The first challenge that I have experienced is the fact that I am terrible at tooth drawings. I had a difficult time doing the infographic because I have never made one before. The challenge for that was making sure that I put the right information and the right amount of information because I have to keep in mind the avoidance of putting too much information that is not necessary. One of the successes I've gained was properly making an infographic because I had to do it two times. Also, I was able to correctly label the parts of the tooth in my tooth drawing portfolios which gave me confiden...
