The most important element of any healthcare system is to be reliable at all times. Some advances in technology, especially in the medical field, affect this instrumental aspect of healthcare systems. In 2017, the healthcare system of the United Kingdom was attacked by a malware that necessitated payment of a ransom in bitcoin to salvage the system CITATION Chr17 \l 1033 (Graham, 2017). The hackers held the system for a while and though it was eventually resolved, it had adversely the system and posed a greater risk to many patients. Since machines and information systems that have become instrumental to the delivery of healthcare services are susceptible to malicious attacks by hackers or failing due to mechanical issues and software bugs, humans are the best redundant feature of s robust reliable healthcare system. They are able to innovate and improvise to continue delivering healthcare services to the patients even when the machines are unable to operate. For instance, in the afore-described case with the NHS of the United Kingdom, nurses, doctors, physician and any other healthcare professional employed by NHS continued dispensing their services even when the machines were unusable CITATION Chr17 \l 1033 (Graham, 2017). The most critical patients who were wheeled to the hospitals were attended to and though the efficacy of the system especially in terms of recording, storing and retrieving data were unusable, the healthcare professional sought other ways to access the data and continue to treat the patients. I.e, the nurses knew the medication to administer on the patients though the machines were offline hence the system is more reliable with humans than without.
Secondly, inasmuch as technology is changing rapidly especially in the healthcare industry, the technology is yet to deliver complex physical therapy treatment procedures like surgery.
