The success in most strategic planning activities revolves around interdisciplinary approaches where team members embrace collaboration towards a shared goal. In some instances, they establish an inclusive environment that can also support the success of the organization. Importantly, different stakeholders, including general employees, the community, physicians, and C-Suite employees, play different roles in strategic planning.
The board of directors is one of the influential stakeholders involved in strategic planning. In healthcare, they are tasked with creating goals and drawing and allocating resources that champion the predetermined priorities. Their primary role entails supervision of the management and how the company operates to ensure that the interests of other stakeholders, including shareholders that fund the projects, are met. The decision-making roles they play help in strategic planning, as it entails guidance on the healthcare center’s policies and goals (Arnwine, 2002). This includes ensuring the other staff, including C-suite leaders, embrace the healthcare organization’s mission and vision. The other senior most position in an organization after the board of directors include the C-suite employees, including the chief executive officer. Their presence in an organization champions the harmonious or collaborative framework that various departments assume towards achieving the shared objective or decisions.
Physicians are considered medical experts and their roles range from special medical examinations, interventions, and diagnosis, among others. In strategic planning, physicians are exploited because their involvement guarantees efficient decision-making that can enhance organizational objectives and mission.
