The hospital has a project to design and construct a new ambulatory care center is aimed at improving the patient’s experience. This is a result of the increasing number of people needing surgery in the recent years. The hospital has set out the project, and to deliver as per the expectation requires an effective model that will minimize costs, but not at the expense of quality.
The facility will employ a free market perspective paradigm in designing the structure of the new center. The free market model in the context of health care refers to a system that allows uninterrupted interactions of all factors of production with little or no influence from a controlling body or the government (Bhattacharya, 2013). The paradigm is deemed effective because it will allow the hospital to act on its self-interests to determine how the budgeted resource is allocated, how big the project should, and which type of patients are being targeted.
There are three key advantages that make the free market model more outstanding compared to the other paradigms. First, the model allows consumer sovereignty. In this context, the constructors will be granted a fairground to tender their capability in taking up the projects. In other words, all possible construction companies will be invited to bid for the construction tender, whereby the most feasible and convenient client will be selected. For consumers who are patients, the facility will operate at a reasonable price as well as providing vast of services for the clients to make their choices (Bhattacharya, 2013). Another advantage of free-market perspective is that it eliminates the coagulation of activities brought about by bureaucracy.
