Infant
An infant is a newborn baby under 28 days of age. Infants have high risks of dying, and there are several causes of infant mortality. The most common ones include; congenital disabilities, pregnancy complications, and accidents. The psychosocial development of an infant occurs between birth and one year of age. At this stage, the infant depends entirely on the caregiver for food, love, safety, warmth, and everything that he/she needs. If the caregiver provides for the infant, a sense of security and trust is developed by the infant. To develop social skills babies will start to smile, make eye contact, and cry. An infant also gains information and build cognitive skills such as thinking and remembering. Bran development is part of cognitive development in infants. These assist children in problem-solving and the development of knowledge. There are two main accomplishments of infant cognitive development. They include object permanence and goal-oriented behaviors.
Preschool
The preschool-age child demonstrates different ways of thinking, and their reasoning capabilities improve. Kids like touching, smelling, tasting, and watching everything around them. At this stage, a child is treated by the parent according to the symptoms they perceive to be experiencing. Social development of a preschool kid builds their social relationship even when they grow up. Emotionally healthy kids tend to maintain a positive relationship with peers.
