Preventing Potential Ethics and Compliance Issues
One of the major ethical issues that may arise during the capstone project relates to confidentiality. In completing the capstone project, I will deal with real human subjects. While collecting data from these subjects, it is common for the researcher to include confidential details of the subject in their interview reports or other forms of documentation (West, 2020). Doing so greatly interferes with the principle of respect for privacy in research. While carrying out research or a project, the researcher must ensure that the subject’s identity can never be directly linked to the personal responses. This aspect is referred to as anonymity and is closely related to confidentiality. To overcome the issue of failing to observe anonymity, I will ensure that I do not use real personal details of a subject in the documentation. In addition, where anonymity is not practicable, I will assure the subjects of confidentiality; their information will be kept private and will not be exposed to unauthorized parties.
The other compliance and ethical issue that may arise relates to honesty/integrity. The lack of integrity/honesty in researches/projects has been rampant in modern days. While rampant, the same is undesirable and lowers the quality of research/project findings.
