About 17% of adolescents and children meet the criteria for clinical obesity in the United States of America (USA). It means a lot of such individuals test positive for obesity-related infections. For example, Arkansas's Northwest Hospital present prevalent cases of obesity and overweight among teenagers. Day and Scott (2017) agree that obesity is a global health issue since it is a significant risk factor leading to increased death rates and morbidity.
On the other hand, Williamson et al. (2020) mention that death rates of Covid-19 increase two times more among 17 million NHS patients with a BMI of 30 or higher. From the above analysis, the care providers and health organizations should handle the problem of obesity on a global scale to promote positive health outcomes, reduce medical costs, increase QoL and reduce the prevalent cases of cardiovascular infection and diabetes in the USA. The paper aims to describe obesity and linked challenges, the application of EBP to address obesity, and the PI or Q1 process and present a comprehensive description of data sources (outcome and process data) and the essential organization culture considerations of work.
Significance of EBP, Research, and PI
Numerous medical research supports obesity as a significant health risk for looming health problems (NIH, 2022). Addressing the issue of obesity is complex since it's problematic to reverse the eating habits of individuals in the community. On the other hand, it is also difficult to change how individuals engage in risky health habits such as smoking (Ruzafa-Martínez et al., 2016). Numerous health organizations such as PGNB "Pediatric Growth and Nutrition Branch" execute a wide range of research projects based on childhood obesity and relevant information on preventing health-linked obesity problems.
It also presents some essential statistical information to help health experts and scholars make major health decisions in the medical sector (Umar-Kamara & Tufts, 2013). Similarly, the World Health Organization funds medical studies on the psychosocial risk of obesity, diabetes, environmental factors of obesity, prevention strategies, and pathophysiology to attain significant advances to reduce obesity problems in the American communities.
Concerning NIH (2016), obesity affects pregnancy. Influential health organizations such as CDC execute research studies and fund other health organizations to develop sound and relevant facts on obesity. For example, the Perinatology and Pregnancy Branch conduct maternal obesity-linked research studies to establish or discover short-term and long-term influences of gaining weight among pregnant women. Additionally, the Perinatology and Pregnancy Branch also check the same issues on the fetus's health.
Numerous noteworthy health reports outline EBP recommendations as effective in preventing obesity at the grassroots level (community). For example, health experts can educate community members on the adverse effects and the risk factors of obesity.
