The Obamacare also known as the Affordable Care Unit (ACA), has been a subject of contention before and after the election of President Donald Trump. After assuming office, President Trump has made the repealing and replacing of the Obama care a top priority for his administrations (Ponnur, 2017). President Trump together with the opponents of the ACA find the plan ineffective as it taxes even those who have not purchased insurance plans and allowing easy avoidance of tax to many through the unending exception clauses (Ponnur, 2017). Also, Obamacare was found ineffective and unfair after insurance company’s cancelled approximately, 30 million clients who had purchased plan when their policies didn't cover the ACA's 10 essential benefits. In addition, the opponents also rejects the ACA because many families could not withhold the medical expenses that exceeded 10% of income before subtracting expenses that exceeded 7.5 %  of their household income (Ponnur, 2017)
For these reason, Trump suggests the Obamacare to be replaced with a plan that observes market principles and patient centred (Ponnur, 2017). However, the alternative will maintain some popular provision such as accommodating children on their parents’ plan up to the age of 22 as well as allowing insurers to provide cover to patients with pre-existing conditions such as diabetes (Ponnur, 2017).
