Nurses are an integral part of healthcare systems and the society at large. According to Faculty Training & Development (2016) nurses perform vital roles in society such as care giving and preventing illnesses. They also facilitate healing besides optimizing health and offering counseling services. As such, absolute care must be exercised when training nurses to adequately prepare them for the daunting task that awaits them. The dispositions of both the educators and learners have a significant bearing on the end result.
Nursing educators must from the outset understand that they are charged with the important mandate of molding people who will play critical roles in society in the future. They must therefore execute that mandate meticulously, zestfully, and diligently. As a rule of thumb, nursing educators must, therefore, exhibit a charming demeanor that will appeal to the students rather than scare or discourage them. They must also always bear in mind that interactions and communication styles profoundly impact student satisfaction and the learning outcomes (Faculty Training & Development, 2016). In this regard, they must cultivate and nurture robust relationships with the students. Moreover, they must always be ready and willing to listen and offer help to the students when it is imperative. The educators must understand that they deal with students going through different phases of development. Some of the students may be in the process of trying to forge relationships and have a sense of belonging. Some may not be making much headway and may be inclined to feel isolated and dejected. As a consequence, this may distract them and affect their concentration. In this regard, educators must instill organizational skills to help them cope with such situations (Yang et al., 2022) Other students may have families back home and are constrained to juggle the family responsibilities and learning.
