The two key concepts that will significantly impact the future of nursing practice are ethics and the social determinants of health. The critical principles of ethics in nursing include beneficence, justice, autonomy, and non-maleficence, all of which help enhance the health provider-patient relationship and prevent legal issues (Haddad & Geiger, 2021). Conversely, the social determinants of health affect the overall well-being of the patient by influencing their daily lives, even if these are non-medically related (World Health Organization, n.d.).
The principles of ethics are in line with the moral standards of society. According to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses, the first provision pertains to respecting every person’s worth and dignity by fostering compassion as a health provider.
