CINAHL Complete and PubMed are among the most used nursing-specific databases providing the best research sources to support an Evidence-Based Proposal (EBP). Most of the sources found in these databases are peer-reviewed and empirical data resources which are better sources obtained from general internet searches. Peer-reviewed sources have been scrutinized, revisions done and the right content published. Any content that does not meet the required standard is subjected to many revision requests or rejected altogether (Education: Understanding peer review and empirical studies 2022). This way, researchers ensure they do extensive research on their topics before publication.
This is unlike general internet searches, which often have little or no standard assurance protocols that guide their publications. This means that the content contained in these general internet searches may not have been tested for authenticity. The sites where the information is retrieved are not equal based on consistency, predisposition, and intent. This means that the content may be biased to promote individual agendas.
Professional reviewers go through peer-reviewed and empirical data resources to read and analyze content presentation, the methodology, research approach, data analysis, and references. These reviewers guide scholarly journal editors and publishers to ensure they approve the right content, format, and topics. The professional reviewer handling a certain work is always from the same field as the author (Education: Understanding peer review and empirical studies 2022).
