The utilization of computers and information technology in healthcare is gaining popularity in many health care institutions. It is becoming a standard in most hospitals. The use of computers enables fast retrieval of patient health history, especially when emergency treatment if required. Patients also benefit from using computers as they do not need to repeat their medical history every time they visit a doctor. The nurses and all medical staff can acquire further education from informatics resources that provide trusted evidence-based information (Nelson & Staggers, 2016). Evidence-based information helps clinicians avoid clinical errors and save lives, especially where drug administration is required. Such information and technology tools also increase efficiency. Nurses can answer questions quickly and comprehensively after checking on the patients’ information effortlessly.
