Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers of the body released by the nerve fiber and diffuse across the synapse to transfer impulse to a muscle fiber, nerve fiber, or other structures. Hormones are also chemical messengers secreted into the blood and carried to different tissues and organs to facilitate multiple functions (Mandal, 2019). Genes refer to a functional and physical unit of hereditary, which are made up of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). They account for heritability. Besides, heritability entails the measure of how genes contribute to individuals’ traits differences.
Human brains function through complex interactions of environmental and genetic influences. For instance, teratogens are substances that lead to functional or physical defects in a fetus or embryo after a pregnant woman becomes exposed to things, such as cocaine and alcohol.
