The project selected six units, but napping was implemented in only two. There was successful implementation in one of the two units and an incomplete one in the other. The main barriers were met at the point of seeking approval from the unit nurse managers. 153 thirty-minutes naps were recorded within the research time on the successful unit. 44 % of the naps recorded a high sleepiness level at the beginning. Nurses recorded deep or light sleep in more than half the naps and rare sleep inertia. The study reported a mean score of 7.3 on a scale of 1-10 of the helpfulness of napping. Drowsy driving was not directly assessed, although nurses who napped mentioned that it had helped them stay awake while driving home.
