As a result, our accreditation is guided by the The Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing (2011). 
MSN Essential II: Organizational and Systems Leadership. Recognizes that
organizational and systems leadership are critical to the promotion of high quality and
safe patient care. Leadership skills are needed that emphasize ethical and critical decision
making, effective working relationships, and a systems-perspective (AACN, 2011, p. 4).
Examining the course objectives, reading and assignments, please provide written evidence of how you have developed, created, applied and/or evaluated course content through your submitted assignments.
You will then address how the identified MSN Essential Standards applies to the final outcomes of your learning. Provide goals for future learning experiences during your progression through the MSN Program

COURSE DESCRIPTION
As an introduction to graduate studies, this course seeks to re-orient the student to learning in an academic setting, communicating in the area of information literacy and knowledge building. Shared experiences and exercises will broaden students’ understanding of leadership as it applies to various advanced practice roles. A variety of theoretical frameworks, including role theory, are analyzed as a basis for engaging in personal and professional development. Students are encouraged to broaden perspectives and worldview through interaction with, and appreciation of others.

 COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills to:
Articulate advanced practice roles within the context of the nursing profession.
Recognize how individual belief systems and life experiences affect nursing practice.
Discuss self-care and change as a factor in personal growth and in one’s role in the health care system.
Apply role theory/principles to the practice of advanced nursing roles.
Analyze the advanced practice leadership role in fostering the community of nursing.
Explore the process of socialization to an advanced level of nursing practice.
Demonstrate effective utilization of instructional resources, including the use of scholarly literature and computerized searches.
Evidence critical thinking skills in class discussion, written work, online assignments, or oral/visual/voice-enhanced presentations

Business Leaders Presentation (Group) (Objective 2, 5, 8 ) 25%
The purpose of this assignment is to begin to examine beliefs or values pertaining to a specific component of leadership that is reflected in your practice/thinking and articulate a point of view about this belief or value. Information Literacy and Leadership Paper (Objectives 1,7, 8) 15%
The purpose of this assignment is to enhance your skills in information literacy
and leadership through locating authoritative, scholarly sources through
computerized searches and the university library.
Resume/Cover Letter Dev. (Objectives 2,3, 8) 10%
The purpose of this assignment is for the student to self-assess the status of the leadership abilities. By updating their resume/CV and preparing for a desired job, the student will have the opportunity to view themselves in the job market environment and evaluate their transferrable skills and presentation style.
Nursing Leadership Analysis Paper (Objectives 1, 2, 3, 5, 8) 20%
The purpose of this paper is to self-reflect on your style of leadership. Based
on the readings and weekly exercises the student should speak to their leadership
philosophy, providing specific examples. This paper will ask the student to use
Evidentiary support from the literature to support their chosen leadership theory.
The student will objectively analyze the strengths and weaknesses of their chosen
approach as well as analyzing the impact on their professional practice. The
Students will explore their professional aspirations grounding their choice with
literature support. Lastly, the student will discuss their plan for reinvestment in
the profession as a leader and share their personal reflection on the theory-
practice gap, role transition into leadership, and socialization into the role.

In addition to reading from the primary course textbook, students are expected to prepare for several class sessions by reading articles that apply or evaluate an aspect of the course. Such include the ability to treat and diagnose illnesses, advice the members of the public on a number of health issues and manage chronic diseases. Continuous education also plays an important role since I will be able to identify different technological; developments in my field and how they apply to the nursing profession.
