Case Assignment Overview
Due to many variables, including the complexity of the U.S. health care system, employment in the health care field might be found to be challenging and stressful. In fact, a 2014 survey found that 69% of health care employees reported feeling stressed and 17% reported being highly stressed (Ricker, 2014). As a health care leader, you must effectively know how to manage the stress of employees, as it could lead negative consequences.

Introduction
The health care system is complex, rendering it challenging for healthcare professionals to manage the stresses that accompany the job. Since this industry typically deals with mortalities and morbidities, it is of no surprise that the professionals under this field experience high levels of stress (Ricker, 2014).
Job Burnout, Satisfaction, Turnover, and Retention
An employee’s sense of fulfillment in a job is also known as job satisfaction. It compels an employee to consider both the work environment and how the workplace manages the employee’s overall welfare. Moreover, it is a multifaceted concept that involves an employee’s emotions, assessment of task performance, beliefs, and attributes. Job burnout is described as the late physical, mental, or emotional response to chronic stress experienced while on the job. This is secondary to working for long hours and exerting a disproportionate amount of effort (Chuang, Tseng, Lin, et al., 2016). Hence, the employee begins to achieve less gratification and appraisal from his job. Job satisfaction and burnout lead to two other concepts, namely, job retention and turnover. Retention refers to the number of employees that remain in a company while turnover refers to the employees who resigned, transferred to another department, or dismissed by the boss (Chamberlain, Hoben, Squires, & Estabrooks, 2016). It is essential to understand these terms in a healthcare profession. As we all know, the medical field is extremely stressful as the providers need to constantly check their patients. Moreover, a mistake may become fatal. Thus, providers are required to be constantly alert and oriented to prevent detrimental events. According to Nam et al. (2016), job satisfaction of the health providers is dependent on many factors such as job demand, interpersonal conflict, occupational climate, lack of reward, job insecurity, and insufficient job control. Specifically, nurses find an organizational system, insufficient job control, and the lack of rewards to having the most significant negative impact on their job. Insufficient job control and the lack of rewards are organizational issues that reflect staffing and institutional and patient demands (Hairr, Salisbury, Johannsson, & Redfern-Vance, 2014). The lack of rewards can be due to the lack of appraisal from the manager or the lack of incentives such as financial bonuses, accidents, and health insurances (Miller & Babiarz, 2013).
By analyzing these factors, the hospital administrator will have a good overview of the factors that impact job retention and turnover. To reduce the turnover rate, the strategy must focus on increasing job satisfaction and reducing the job burnout of the health providers. To do increase satisfaction, incentives, appraisals, and recognition of achievements must be given to the rightful employees. Additionally, to reduce burnout, employers must equally designate job responsibilities and avoid overlapping responsibilities (Hairr, Salisbury, Johannsson, & Redfern-Vance, 2014).
