Nurses are always required to evaluate and provide quality care to their patients. To do so, they need to understand the necessary tasks required and their patients' development stages. Certain lifespan considerations should be implemented at each stage in relation to administering immunizations. Immunizations follow the principle that immunization is better than cure. It has made some seriousness like tetanus, whooping cough, measles, and polio preventable. These illnesses were once common and deadly throughout the world.
Lifespan Considerations
One of the lifespan considerations I might use in applying the nursing process to infants, school-age children, younger adults, and older adults concerning immunizations and wellness is literacy. Literacy is a key factor that nurses must consider. While immunizing infants, it is imperative to assess the mother's immunization knowledge (Wang et al., 018). Nurses should also evaluate the level of literacy in school-age children, young adults, and older adults to examine if the individuals understand the need and significance of immunization. If the literacy level reading immunization is low among the participants, the nurse should educate them to understand the importance of this process. When nurses run literacy immunization programs, they ensure that children and adults receive the correct information about the types of vaccines that can save lives.
Infancy is an early stage of life, accompanied by increased susceptibility to infections. While applying the nursing process related to infant immunizations and wellness, the nurse should consider asking parents assessment questions. They should also inform the parents about the vaccines the baby should have received or the ones they need to receive.
