RE: An Advocacy Letter on Gun Control Legislation
I am writing to you today as a nursing student who is deeply concerned about gun violence and its detrimental effects. Nurse practitioners encounter gunshot victims regularly along with their service delivery. The nursing practice is compassionate about care for patients and aims at ensuring community wellness, a realization that is hindered by menaces such as gun violence (Smith, 2013).
Researchers affirm that the U.S firearm fatalities exceed those of other countries by a significant margin, which is due to the ineptness at addressing gun violence (Kennedy, 2016). Violent death in the United States is an epidemic; hence, the call for action to address this epidemic plaguing the nation and destroying communities.
