Response to the Video Ivermectin Decreases Mortality
In the video Ivermectin Decrease Mortality, Dr. John Campbell peruses two recent research articles that substantiate using Ivermectin as more effective than the Remdevisir antiviral. His articulation shows that the studies were well conducted and deserve to be published in the media, given how cheap Ivermectin is compared to the Remdevisir antiviral (Campbell, 2022). There are several lessons I took from watching the video.
Lessons
The first lesson is how to conduct good research or study, especially in healthcare. Dr. Campbell talks about one of the studies being “readable” (Campbell, 2022). Unlike this study, he argues, many other studies give the impression that they are not meant to be understood. Nevertheless, the studies used in the video are clear and precise. Further, Dr. Campbell reveals essential considerations for any study by systematically going through the research papers. For instance, he clarifies some of the research issues I have been facing by going through the difference in experimental and control groups (implied) and connecting them with the outcome and the concepts of the level of significance and chance.
The second lesson is about the dissemination of information. In his introductory remarks, Campbell (Campbell, 2022) compares the prices of Ivermectin and Remdevisir, where the latter is way more costly than the former.
