Being a humble leader is one of the best quality that a leader should have and one that can help them achieve even greater authority and succeed in dealing with the people that he/she is leading. Just like Jesus Christ showed and set a good example of humility in leadership so should the modern leaders. Christian leaders ought to be servants to those they are leading. Jesus Christ acts as the perfect example for the leaders. In any leadership level, Jesus Christ provides a good example to the leaders. According to Sipe and Frick (2015) the bible with a literature work which is sacred serves as a reference point for the leaders to guide them on the art of being a servant leader as Jesus did. Jesus set a good example as a good example servant leader and He was the son of God and thus the leaders should emulate Him.
Observation and thoughts during the Practicum Oncology week 13-14
On the practicum Oncology unit during the 2 weeks’ period of 13-14 week I observed and learnt a lot about Leadership. I observed that servant leadership has a number of advantages to both leaders and juniors. The role of servant leadership is being undervalued by most leaders who perceive that leadership is all about giving instructions and watching things as they get done. In the nursing field for instance the nurses who are of lower rank should respect and follow the instructions of their seniors. This creates a harmonic working condition that when utilized well by the nurses and protected by the seniors can lead to the development and improvement of service delivery within the health facility (Liden, Wayne, Liao, & Meuser, 2014). Caring for the juniors results in a harmonious working relationships between the various levels. During the week, it was hard to say who the leader was because the nurse leader was busy showing us on how to do things and was ready to listen to us. Most of the visitors used to approach the wrong nurse because it was hard to notice him.
The character and behavior of the managers towards the workers is one very crucial part of the status of their professional relationship.
