Question One: Analysis of different parts of the brain and the parts that are activated during a variety of tasks
The video provides a highlight of brain activity during three important tasks. The first of those tasks is when one watches a video that has language errors (pbslearningmedia.org, 2018). Electrodes in the brain normally record where a mistake is made and when it is made. When the brain cannot perceive sense in a language, an area in the back of the brain mostly on the left side reacts within two-tenths of a second. This area of the brain is the occipital lobe that is responsible for vision and recognizing objects. However, when it is a grammatical mistake, the brain reacts within one-tenth of a second towards the front side on the left. The second task is when one uses a tool. When using a tool, the brain treats it as an extension of the body(pbslearningmedia.org, 2018). The parts of the brain that light up are on the left side towards the center, but close to the brain areas used for language. The area of the brain is known as a parietal lobe. It is responsible for senses, such as pleasure, pain, and taste. The final task is thinking about the thoughts of someone. During this task, it is the right temporoparietal junction that lights up, just above the right ear (pbslearningmedia.org, 2018). The area is normally known as the temporal lobe. It is largely responsible for language, meaning, hearing, and memory.
Question Two: Brain Area-Occipital Lobe
The occipital lobe is located at the back of the brain. Specifically, it is located at the “bottom, back part of the cortex.” This part of the brain is responsible for processing “visual information from the eyes” (Tohid, Faizan & Faizan, 2015). Therefore, it helps people to understand whatever their eyes see correctly.
Consequently, it has to work very fast to process rapidly what the eyes see. In this regard, it helps us to make sense of the visual information so that we can understand what our eyes see. If this area of the brain is injured or impaired, we shall not have the ability to process visual information, thus resulting in visual confusion (Tohid, Faizan & Faizan, 2015). The occipital lode is also responsible for determining the color properties of different items, assessing depth, size, and distance; visual stimuli identification such as familiar objects and faces, and ensuring that other brain regions can get the visual information (Tohid, Faizan & Faizan, 2015).
Question Three: Brain Scanning Technologies-Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scan
To perform a PET scan, a small amount of “radioactive material (tracer).” This tracer is administered through IV on the inside of the elbow (Jodłowska et al., 2016). Optionally, a person could breathe in the gas that is radioactive.
