An intrinsically motivated person has the natural curiosity, spontaneous exploration, and the desire to learn what they are born with. One finds themselves seeking answers that intrigues them or pushing themselves to work hard and master a particular skill. They show self-determination, striving for excellence and purpose. Whereas, an extrinsically motivated person comes from working for an external reward or to avoid an external punishment that someone else provides. It reflects external control and true self-regulation (Ecopine, 2014).
To motivate them, it would be necessary to show support in their personal development and desire to improve themselves and giving them the decision making authority and manage their objectives and trust by avoiding micro management.
