Poliomyelitis Vaccine
The Polio vaccine is an example of a vaccine used for preventing poliomyelitis. Two types of vaccine are used a weaker one provided through the mouth and an inactivated but strong one provided orally (Pate et al., 2015). The Polio vaccine is recommended for all children to avoid future complexities. It is provided depending on the patient's age and has been successful since 2000. However, the vaccine has specification elements for consideration.
Indications and Contradictions
The indication for the vaccine is that any individual who is incompletely or unimmunized is likely to face the poliovirus. For instance, laboratories handling the specimen or individuals traveling to the endemic areas are at a higher risk and should receive the polio vaccine (Ciapponi et al., 2019). However, the major contradiction of the polio vaccine is that it can be used for patients experiencing anaphylaxis and streptomycin hypersensitivity. Therefore, more research is needed to understand vaccines equally.
