The proposed project
The proposed project focuses on encouraging and supporting the adoption and implementation of telehealth. Nursing informatics using telehealth technologies is potentially beneficial to improving access to health information, lowering health costs, and improving health care safety, quality and outcomes (Pordeli, 2018). Telehealth is the remote health service provision by health practitioners such as doctors, obstetricians, nurses, psychologists, among others, through telecommunications technology and other electronic data such as computers, telephones, applications, and systems. The staff members will have monitored wearable smartphones that allow them to communicate and send information on patients making it easier to record patient information for analysis. The healthcare team members will get feedback and information on patient care progress, which helps support healthcare interventions and healthcare outcomes. The healthcare team members will only access and get authorized information from electronic health records.
Stakeholders impacted by the project
The stakeholders include clinicians (nurses, physicians, and therapists), insurance companies, IT team members, billing team, administrators, pharmaceutical firms, patient’s government, and supporting staff. The clinicians are involved in the planning and selection process. The insurance companies evaluate and influence health coverage plans through employers or the government. The IT team ensures the technology and communication infrastructure are working, including the hardware and safe software. Administrators oversee the nurses, manage budgets, and coordinate schedules. Moreover, writing reports is necessary. The administrators also support the provision of high-quality patient care. Patients expect high-quality care, and it is easier to promote this better care when there is close coordination of healthcare interventions.
Patient outcome(s) or patient-care efficiencies
The technology will support clinical decision making and the users ensure that there is no unauthorized use by third parties. Evaluating informatics competency needs is necessary to support quality improvement where the health practitioners have information skills, computer skills, and informatics knowledge (Pordeli, 2018). The appropriate users for applications improve health outcomes as there is better coordination of health care. Evaluating whether the applications are beneficial is also prioritized. Since the technology users require integrating health information through the communication and technology system, this allows the effective entry of patient data and access to historical data necessary for patient evaluation. However, to support health interventions, there is documentation to improve health outcomes.
Telehealthcare interventions reduce costs as there is close coordination of activities and sharing relevant information.
