Access to health care services is unreliable in the United States of America. Many people lack the opportunities of receiving healthcare services. The USA government has done little in addressing the issue of equitable access to health care services to all hence the massive calling to resolve the issue in the US. Major calls are in equity and access to health care services are support in primary care, payment models, improved healthcare information systems, health care disparities and informed research. The purpose of this paper is to determine how socioeconomic such trends as health insurance and costing influence access and equity in health care.
Access or Equity Trend
Socioeconomic factors have been affecting access and equity in health care negatively for a long time in the USA. The ever increasing healthcare costs have posed challenges to the American families and the government spending as well. Equity begins with improved health care system access. Access to health care systems is influenced by insurance coverage and costs of the services (Banthin & Benard, 2006). Minority groups and low-income earners are often uninsured than those from the middle-class families.
Influence on the delivery of health care
In the United States of America, health insurance facilitates the entry of people into health care systems. Those who are uninsured are less likely to access the services, and they are the ones with poor health status. However, the financial burden of uninsurance is high for American people. The uninsured people report problems in trying to access healthcare services. They end up getting diagnosed at when their conditions persist and sometimes receive less therapeutic care. By the time they are hospitalized they are sicker and are likely to die. However, being uninsured for an extended period have a severe impact on the health and stability of a person. Also, the uninsured postpone seeking medical and tend to have difficulties when seeking it. They bear the medical costs alone which are very high (Hadley & Holahan, 2004).
