The implementation of an electronic health record (EHR) system is a long process which can be divided into different stages. (provided in the excel file)
2. Explain how you developed the timeline and milestones.
The schedule is created in a way that shows the EHR system development month by month. It also includes the timing of the major activities and events from planning to the implementation of the EHR system. The schedule has been divided into five major events which are:
Practice readiness assessment which involves soliciting of support from the hospital management; approach planning which is mainly concerned with the development of the workflow to be used with the system, certified EHR selection and upgrades, implementation, and training of EHR system where activities such as hardware installation together with the training of the super users that will be controlling the system and finally, quality improvement and monitoring.
B. Create an essay with charts, illustrations, or diagrams (3 to 6 pages) in which you do the following for your chosen functional area:
1. Discuss the roles of EHR project team members.
A team is an essential item in every project. A HER team can be classified as both a task force or a committee. This is because of its nature of being a long-term group. Effective and well-defined timeline and goals need to be defined by the team’s existence. This makes it easier for the arrangement of activities in a way which makes their congruency and implementation easier. The HER Project team members are responsible for creating the system flow design and structure, the coding structures, tools, interfaces and hardware required for the implementation of the system. The project team members have the following role in the EHR project:
Testing and implementation of the hardware. The project team members have the responsibility of that the implementation of equipment, tools, security and all the requirement hardware. They must ensure that there is effectiveness in the working of the hardware.
Design and testing. The practice operations of the project must be fully understood by the project team. This ensures that the intended processes and workflow in the system is attained as planned. In design and testing, the project team members should have the following skills; they should be proficient in their use of the computer. The team members should also ensure that their work is dominated by high levels of accuracy.
For them to carry out their role effectively, the project manager that the members of the project team carry out their work by ensuring that they are knowledgeable about the use of new technology and all the associated devices.
